Students are introduced to challenging new rhythms, and learn to create major and minor scales and chords - the building blocks of Western music.

Book 2 History focuses on the composers most influential in music history. Students learn to apply their general knowledge gleaned from Book 1 and zero in on specific composers, some of which will be familiar and some new. The music history section is expanded from Book 1, and students are challenged with more extensive written exercises and opportunities to further research composers of each period from the Renaissance to the 20th century.
